For most service businesses, facility management operations, and heavy contractors, the more critical question is: “Which mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) fits the way our team actually works every single day?”
Towable boom lifts for tree work provide arborists and landscaping professionals with a flexible, efficient, and safer solution for elevated tree maintenance. With compact designs, fast setup, and excellent maneuverability, towable boom lifts help tree care companies complete more jobs with less downtime.
There are many aerial work platforms operating in Northern climates with extreme temperatures in North America and Europe
Yes. The GTB52 towable boom lift is suitable for tree care, facility maintenance, construction, and commercial property maintenance. It provides a 52 ft 6 in (16 m) maximum platform height, 59 ft 1 in (18 m) maximum working height, and 34 ft 5 in (10.5 m) maximum horizontal outreach, making it suitable for a range of elevated maintenance and access tasks.
The GTB52 must be operated within its rated platform capacity, working envelope, wind limits, and approved equipment configuration. It should not be used as a crane, to push or pull objects, or with unauthorized platform extensions or attachments.
Before raising the GTB52 boom, the operator should:
1. Inspect the work area for soft or uneven ground, slopes, edges, holes, trenches, overhead obstructions, and power lines.
2. Position the machine on suitable ground and fully deploy the outriggers according to the operator’s manual.
3.Verify the platform load is within the rated 440 lb (200 kg) capacity, including occupants, tools, and materials.
4. Inspect key components and safety systems, including the boom, platform, guardrails, entry gate, hydraulic hoses, controls, alarms, emergency stop, and emergency-lowering system.
5. Check weather and wind conditions against the GTB52 operating limits and warning decals.
6. Confirm the occupants understand the communication and emergency-rescue procedures.
Do not operate the GTB52 if a defect affects the coupling, brakes, tires, wheels, structure, platform, controls, outriggers, alarms, or manual descent valve.
The towable boom lift comes with a 1-year full-machine warranty. During the warranty period, GLT LIFTS provides free replacement parts, remote technical guidance from professional engineers, and localized service through its spare parts network to help minimize downtime. The GTB52 uses automatic hydraulic outrigger leveling, outrigger sensors, anti-tipping protection, and outrigger interlocks to help establish a level and stable working position. These systems also help reduce the risk of operation when the outriggers are not properly deployed.
The operator must still confirm that the ground can safely support the machine and outrigger loads. Automatic leveling cannot compensate for soft soil, hidden voids, trenches, unstable edges, excessive slopes, or inadequate support pads.
The main risks include tip-over, falls from the platform, contact with overhead power lines, crushing or collision hazards, falling objects, and towing-related accidents. Risks can increase on soft or uneven ground, near unprotected edges, in high winds, with an overloaded platform, or when towing, braking, or safety components are defective. Always follow the manufacturer's operating instructions and applicable safety requirements.
Yes, towable boom lifts are extremely safe when operated by trained personnel on solid ground within rated limits. For the GLT LIFTS GTB52, safety is built directly into the hardware through automatic outrigger leveling, anti-tipping sensors, overload alarms, and a 3-way interlock system. However, safety ultimately depends on proper site assessment and following standard pre-use inspection protocols.
