For high-precision machinery like spider cranes, scheduled monthly checks and annual overhauls are more than just maintenance—they are the frontline of site safety and peak performance. To help GLT Spider Crane operators achieve zero-accident workflows and maximum equipment longevity, this guide breaks down the critical technical requirements for both Primary (Monthly) and Secondary (Annual) service intervals.
Inspect and maintain the crane once a month by the maintainer, except the contents about the routine maintenance, there also include:
1.Critical Pin Maintenance:
Check the status of the fixed pin about abrasion and lubrication.

2.Bolt Tightening and Replacement:
Check whether all of the bolts are loosening and shortages. Pay specific attention to Checking the situation about bolts fastening on the base of the engine
and the hydraulic pump. Fasten them one by one.
3.Pulley System Inspection:
(1)Check the situation of abrasion about the rope pulley. Lubricate the pulley and the pulley shaft.
(2)Check the situation of the pulley, such as flexible, have or not damage, cracks, pay attention particularly on the situation of abrasion about the fixed pulley.

4.Operational Performance Evaluation:
Check the operating conditions of the vehicle, ensure that there is not exist torsion phenomena when start and stop.
5. Lubricate the various parts of the crane : Apply grease in strict accordance with the 《Schematic Diagram of Lubrication Points (1-3)》

Inspection and maintenance once a year, by maintenance personnel,In addition to the monthly inspection content, this interval requires a more in-depth wear assessment and a comprehensive system cleaning.
(1)Cleaning & Lubrication:
Check that the wheels are cleaned of stains and the bearings are lubricated.

(2) Structural NDT & Weld Inspection:
Check the main welds of the boom and car body for open welding and corrosion. The corrosion should not exceed the thickness of the original plate 10%, whether there are fatigue cracks in the main stress-bearing parts; whether the various pins and brackets are intact; check the boom bolts and tighten them again.
(3) Boom Alignment & Calibration:
Check the deformation of the boom.
(1)Hoist Drum Inspection: Check the condition of the Hoist Drum , the wear of the hoist drum wall should not exceed 20% of the original wall thickness, and the convex peak of the rope groove should not be sharp.
(2) Full-Scale Bolt Re-Torquing:Tighten all the connecting bolts and fastening bolts on the crane.
(3) Clean the oil filter of the hydraulic system to ensure smooth oil passage.

(1) Actuator Inspection: Check the working condition of the hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder should have no retraction, oil leakage and beating.
(2)Fluid Purification & Filtration: Remove impurities such as oil sludge in the hydraulic oil tank.
| Maintenance Interva | Core Objective | Key Inspection Focus |
| Monthly(Tier 1 ) | Operational Fluidity | Pin & Pivot Lubrication, Base Bolt Tightening, Pulley Wear Inspection, Start-Stop Dynamic Balance |
| Annual(Tier 2 ) | Prevention of Structural Failure | Structural NDT, Wall Thickness Inspection (10%-20% Thresholds), Hydraulic System Flushing & Purification |
Note: All inspections must strictly adhere to the GLT Service Manual to ensure the 10-year design life of the equipment.
Scheduled technical maintenance is the cornerstone. It ensures the stable operation of spider cranes, even in the most high-complexity environments.
From the routine of monthly lubrication and tightening to the rigor of annual structural NDT, every detail matters. Every recorded data point and verification is more than a number—it is our safety commitment to both operators and the worksite.
Precision requires discipline. All maintenance must be performed by qualified professionals, following the 《glt Schematic Diagram of Lubrication Points (1-3)》 with absolute strictness.Explore the full range of high-performance GLT Spider Crane Models to see how our design supports easy maintenance.
